Why is the Speco Blue recorder constantly beeping unexpectedly?

Some users report after having their recorder units operate for some time, it can start a constant beeping out of nowhere. There is a reason why it is beeping.

There is essentially only one main reason why the recorder unit would give off an unexpected constant beeping sound.

    • The recorder is attempting to alert the user of an issue with the recorder.

Identifying the issue with the recorder unit is a simple task. The recorder unit maintains a detailed log of its activities and any occurrences that transpire. By examining this log, any issues can be pinpointed and resolved effectively.

  • First, go to the Settings menu of the Speco Blue recorder.

  • Once the Settings menu appears, please select the View Log option.

  • The Log of the recorder should open.
    • Select Exception and then select Search.

Any errors recorded by the recorder will appear on this page. Not all errors will prompt the recorder unit to beep, and not all errors indicate there is something wrong with the recorder unit.

The exception alarms that will activate the buzzer function are:

  • IP Address Conflict
    • Disk IO Error
      • Disk Full
        • No Disk
          • Disk Failure
            • Illegal Access
              • Network Disconnection
                • HDD is pulled out
                  • Alarm Server Offline
  • If any of those issues are listed under the Content column, it is more than likely the reason the buzzer of the recorder is going off.

Some settings, like motion detection, can be configured to activate the buzzer feature. Please verify nothing else could be triggering the buzzer if no exception alarms can be found.
