Why is every camera listed with a 192.168.226.201 IP address?

Depending on the setup, some users may find themselves with a IP conflict with their cameras.

Speco Technologies cameras use DHCP on by default. DHCP allows a networking device to configure the settings of the camera to work with the network it's plugged into. If a camera were plugged into a router with DHCP enabled, the router would configure the camera automatically to work with the router's network. If a Speco camera were plugged into a Speco recorder with a built-in DHCP server, the recorder would configure the camera automatically to work with the recorder's network.

If the Speco camera is plugged into a source that does not have a DHCP server, the Speco camera will not be automatically configured, and instead, it will load its default IP address. The default IP address for a Speco camera is 192.168.226.201.

As a general rule of thumb, our Speco recorders that have a built-in DHCP server will also have individual camera ports on the back of the unit. Our 16 Channel or less recorders will have a Built-in DHCP server. An IP conflict of 192.168.226.201 should not occur on a 16 Channel or less recorder unit.

Our Speco recorders with 32 Channels and up will not have a built-in DHCP server and in-turn, does not have individual camera ports on the back of the unit. It will have 2 ethernet ports. LAN Port 1 is for the network, LAN Port 2 is for the cameras. This means when connecting cameras to the recorder unit using LAN Port 2 (Or even LAN Port 1 if it were attempted), each camera will load into its default 192.168.226.201 IP address.

Because the recorder unit does not have a built-in DHCP server, each individual camera would need to have its own IP address assigned to it. To resolve this issue, a computer would first need have a connection to the IP cameras, then with an IP Scanner or camera's web GUI, the IP address would need to be set to a Static IP address that would work to the recorder's networking parameters.
