What’s New – Roles and Permissions

The introduction of SecureGuard Cloud has unlocked several new features for you. This includes increased opportunity to customize role and permissions!

In SecureGuard Dashboard, there were four user types listed.

Admin User
Advanced User
User
Installer

As part of your transition to SecureGuard Cloud, we have transferred the existing users you had in your account to the corresponding roles, see below. You will have the ability to edit the title of these Roles as well as the permissions under them to best suit your needs. You may also create new Roles, or adjust an individual user’s permissions. See Users and Permissions document [LINK]

To Access: Go to Settings --> Roles and permissions -> Roles

Best Practice

Establish what permissions you would like a particular user to have and create a Role for them. Then, all future SecureGuard Cloud users you create can be assigned this role.

Example:

If we use the example of ABC Alarms and the end user of Pizza Palace:

Admin: ABC Alarm’s main point of contact, overseeing all accounts and sites
Manager: ABC Alarm’s branch manager, oversees some but not all accounts
Account Owner: Owner of Pizza Place, only will be granted access to their specific account. Granted the ability to view, share and download footage from their site, view and exportactivity log, view notifications
End User: Manager at Pizza Palace. Receives less permissions than Account Owner, such as cannot view or export activity log
Installer: ABC Alarm’s technician who will go out to install the system at Pizza Palace. He will only need access for a few days of installation, and then permissions can be revoked.
