SecureGuard® CMS - Test Failed on socket

Receiving "Test Failed. on socket: [error message]"

When adding a recorder* that is not part of the Speco Blue family (example, VX, VN, HU, HT, or NX families) to the SecureGuard CMS program, some users many experience the following error messages:

Test Failed.

on socket: Connection Refused

and/or

Test Failed.

on socket: The remote host closed the connection

There is a quick and easy way to get past this error message.

  • At your recorder unit, go into your Network settings.
  • On the Network settings page, you should find 2 lines that reveal to you a web port number as well as a network video port number. By Default, recorders that are compatible with the SecureGuard CMS program will be running a web port of 80 and a Network Video Port of 5445.

  • Whatever the port numbers are set to, you will want to copy them over into the SecureGuard CMS Server/Site Details page.
    • Please note: Not all recorder models will ask for the Web Port.

  • Once the port numbers on the Server/Site Details page within SecureGuard CMS match the port numbers found within the recorders Network settings, you should no longer experience the error message and you should be able to get a connection to your recorder unit.

*SecureGuard CMS does not support Speco Silver / Grey / One.
