How to Export/Import a Configuration File with Speco Blue VMS

This is a step-by-step guide on how to export and import configuration files for Speco Blue VMS. After a instance of VMS is setup on one computer, you can export the setting and upload them to another computer to help optimize and expedite set up for many users in 1 organization.


  • First, set up the Speco Blue VMS as desired.
    • Add the recorders, set up layouts, set up sequences, build users, etc.

  • Click Home > Operation and Maintenance Management





  • Click Backup and Restore Configuration



  • Click Backup System Configuration



  • Create an Export Password



  • Save the file to the local computer/flash drive

  • To upload the file, go to the target system and click on Restore System Configuration



  • Enter the password created when exporting the file originally,
    • The file will upload and the VMS software will reboot.
